This project consisted of the completion of construction and various works to ensure on going compliance of a working factory with newly issued Fire Regulations. All of the works were completed in a live factory environment without causing any disruption to the factory operations. Due to the nature of the factory operations, special restrictions were put in place so as to ensure that the creation of dust and noise were kept to extremely low levels.
The works involved, the extension of corridor stair walls, the installation of AOV’s (Automatic Opening Vents), the installation of fireproofing to existing steel beams and columns, the upgrading of fire doors to comply with new FD60 standards, the installation of ladders and platforms to areas with restricted access and egress and the installation of new windows in the external building frame where required.
This project was successfully completed over a duration of 12 weeks in line with the initial base line program for the works. During the course of the project the factory was able to remain operating as normal with no disruption or stoppages being caused as a result of the works.
